Obituary of Madelyn Mary May (Cole) Smith

It is with great sadness that the family of Madelyn Smith, age 83, announces her passing on Sunday, January 29, 2023 at the Drew Nursing Home in Sackville, NB.

 

Born on September 5, 1939 in Sackville, NB, she was the daughter of the late Norman Ivan Cole and Alma (Bulmer) Cole.

 

Madelyn will be lovingly remembered by her son, Darren Harley Smith of Sackville; her brother, Sidney (Ruth) Cole, Sackville; her sister, Joan (Austin) Hicks, Miramichi, NB; her son-in-law, Lee Blakney, as well as by several nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family.

 

Besides her parents, she was pre-deceased by her husband, Clarence Harley Smith in 2004; her daughter, Melinda Doris May Blakney in 2014, as well as by her brother, Norman Ivan Cole “Bub” in 2009.

 

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Erin Campbell and staff of Campbell’s Funeral Home, Sackville (506) 364-8188. In keeping with Madelyn’s wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no visiting hours and funeral services.

 

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Madelyn be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, Alzheimer’s Society of New Brunswick or to the charity of one’s choice.
