Obituary of Lydia Mary (Cormier) Landry

It is with great sadness that the family of Lydia Mary Landry announces her passing on Sunday, April 24, 2022 at the Drew Nursing Home in Sackville. Lydia passed away with her family by her side at the age of 95.

 

Born in Cap Pele, N.B. on May 1, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Cresance (Bourque) and Edward Cormier.

 

Lydia worked for Mount Allison University as a custodian until her retirement and she was devoted to her Catholic Faith. She and Clovis enjoyed sixty-five years of marriage until his passing in 2010 and they spent a lot of time in their retirement years traveling to different places and enjoying life. Lydia was a loving and supportive wife, mother, sister and grandmother. She enjoyed gardening, travelling, and cooking and was very kindhearted and patient. 

 

Lydia will be lovingly remembered by her son, Gilles Landry (Doris Lorette); her grandchildren, Kristen Drapeau (Jean Pierre), Megan LeBlanc (Nathan) and Marley Landry (Michael) and their mother, Nancy Landry; her great-granddaughters, Jade Robinson and Lennon LeBlanc; her sisters, Marie Louise Cormier, Bella Melanson, Lillian (Freddy) Bourque and Sarah Reynolds, as well as by many nieces and nephews.

 

Besides her parents, she was pre-deceased by her husband, Clovis Landry; her son, Ewald Landry; her sisters, Doris LeBlanc and Emma Rolfe; her brothers, Joseph Cormier, Aristide Cormier and Julien Cormier, as well as by her brothers-in-law, Emile Cormier, Guy Melanson and Willard Reynolds

 

Lydia’s family wishes to send a heartfelt thank you to the staff at the Drew Nursing Home, especially to those on Beausejour unit for their kindness, compassion and care of Lydia during her eleven year stay there. 

 

Arrangements have been entrusted to Erin Campbell and staff of Campbell’s Funeral Home, 89 Bridge Street, Sackville, N.B. (364-8188). Visitation will take place at the funeral home on Tuesday, April 26, 2022 from 7-9 pm. The family asks that you wear a mask while inside. The funeral mass will be held at St. Vincent’s Roman Catholic Church, Sackville, on Wednesday, April 27, 2022 at 11 am. Masks must be worn while in the church, unless seated. Burial will follow in Holy Rosary-St. Vincent’s Catholic Cemetery.
