Obituary of Lorraine Theresa Atkinson
It is with sadness, but peace of heart, that we announce the passing of Lorraine Theresa Atkinson on Tuesday, August 17, 2021 at the Sackville Memorial Hospital. Lorraine passed away at the age of 99.
Born in Port Elgin, NB on March 19, 1922, she was the daughter of the late Marie Legere and Joseph LeBlanc.
Lorraine loved to knit and watch curling. She was a member of the Sackville Curling Club and most importantly, loved to spend time with all her family. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Lorraine will be lovingly remembered by her daughters, Susan (Kent Ward) and Sharon (Budd Copp); her siblings, Lorette Woodward, Pam Melanson, Bobby LeBlanc and Shirley Groleau; her grandchildren, Peter Ward (Lana), Michelle (Jerry Parsons) and Mandy (Rob Wilson), as well as by her great-grandchildren, Cody, Morgan, Colby, Molli and Lucas.
Besides her parents, she was pre-deceased by her husband, Colby Atkinson; her siblings, Celeste Melanson, Lucy Melanson, Vicky LeBlanc, Charles LeBlanc and Laurie LeBlanc, as well as by her son-in-law, Budd Copp.
The family wishes to send a heartfelt thank you to Dr. Graeme Stewart and to all of the nurses at the Sackville Memorial Hospital for the care they provided to Lorraine during her stay there.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Campbell’s Funeral Home, 89 Bridge Street, Sackville N.B. (506) 364-8188. In keeping with Lorraine’s wishes, a private family interment will take place in the St. Clements Cemetery in Port Elgin with Rev. Lloyd Bruce officiating.
If so desired, donations in memory of Lorraine may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or to the charity of one’s choice.
