Obituary of Eva Estabrooks

Eva Lorian Estabrooks, age 88, of Sackville, N.B., passed away at the Moncton Hospital on May 21, 2012, following complications from surgery. Born on February 10, 1924 in Sackville, N.B., she was the daughter of the late Ethel (Ward) and Bert Doherty. Eva was employed with Sears Canada in Sackville, as a Manager in the order office for 25 years until her retirement. Being an avid golfer, she represented New Brunswick on several occasions as a member of the Senior Ladies Golf Team. She, along with her sister Nellie, were inducted into the Sackville Sports Wall of Fame on May 9, 1998 for their outstanding ability and fine sportsmanship in golf. She was a loving mother, daughter, sister, aunt and friend and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Eva is lovingly remembered by her son, Wayne R. of Sackville, N.B.; two sisters, Frances Card of Cape Cod, MA and Nellie Johnson of Sackville, N.B.; three sisters-in-law, Dolores Doherty of Sterling, MA, Ella Doherty of Sackville, N.B., Audrey Reid and brother-in-law, Rufus Reid of Charlottetown, PEI; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by her husband Raymond; four brothers, Leaman, Leslie, Reginald and Donald Doherty and by her two sisters, Georgina and Madeline. Arrangements have been entrusted to Campbell’s Funeral Home, 89 Bridge Street, Sackville, N.B. (364-8188). Visitation will take place on Friday, May 25, from 7-9 pm at the funeral home. The funeral service will be held at Campbell’s Funeral Home on Saturday, May 26, at 2 pm with Pastor Andrew Swanson officiating. Burial will take place in the Sackville Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Eva may be made to the Main Street Baptist Church, Extramural Services or to the charity of one’s choice.
