Obituary of Elaine Edith Read

It is with sadness that the family of Elaine E. Read announce her passing at the Drew Nursing Home in Sackville, on Sunday, September 30, 2012. Elaine was 97 years of age. Born in Sackville, N.B. on October 27, 1914, she was the daughter of the late George and Laura (Buck) Read. Elaine was a member of the Middle Sackville Baptist Church as well as a life member and Dominion life member of the United Baptist Women’s Missionary Society, which was very dear to her heart. She was a devoted wife and mother and will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her. Elaine will be lovingly remembered by her three sons, Irvine (Vivian) of Oshawa, Ontario, Alan (Sue) of Belleville, Ontario and George (Leslie) of Fredericton, N.B.; two daughters, Carol (Curtis) and Mary Jane (Fred), both of Sackville, N.B.; twelve grandchildren, Margaret Anne (Bob), Don (Laura), David (Jenny), Jennifer (Michael), Tony (Trudy), Patti (Mike), Alan, Nancy (Dave), Elizabeth, Wendy (Dave), Andrew (Karrie) and Laura; thirteen great-grandchildren, Justin, Lucas, Colton, Cassidy, Lucas, Stefanie, Jordan, Nick, Ben, Charlie, Ellie, Olivia and Abby; three step-granddaughters, Jordan, Maya and Cara; two step-grandsons, Zachary and Jacob; step-great-granddaughter, Addison; three sisters-in-law, Mardie Smith, Trudy Read and Dean Read and several nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by her husband, Donald Read and by her sister, Lila Long. Arrangements have been entrusted to Campbell’s Funeral Home, 89 Bridge Street, Sackville, N.B. (364-8188). Visitation will take place at the funeral home on Tuesday, October 2, 2012 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. The funeral service will be held from Campbell’s Funeral Home on Wednesday, October 3, 2012 at 2pm with Rev. Vernon Vickruck officiating. A reception will take place at the funeral home following the service. Internment will take place in the Four Corners Cemetery. Donations in memory of Elaine may be made to the Middle Sackville Baptist Church, Women’s Missionary Society, Canadian Bible Society or to the charity of ones choice.
