Monique Moore

Obituary of Monique Anna Marie Moore

Monique was born in Saint John on January 5th, 1978. She lived a fairly normal life, went to school, was invited to a lot of birthday parties and played with the other kids in the neighborhood. She always wore a smile but we knew something wasn't quite right. At the age of 11, she was diagnosed with cystic fibrosis and shortly afterwards, asthma. Cystic fibrosis is an inherited genetic disease. Most sufferers think it's their fault that they are sick and that they didn't do enough to stop it. Around the age of 25, Type 1 Diabetes decided to show up and tried to take Monique down. Monique had been fighting pseudomonas pneumonia for a while and hadn't been able to work since April because she was now dependent on oxygen. She had made the list for a double lung transplant. Sadly on November 11th, Monique's lungs failed and she was on life support for a week. She fought with all she had until she could fight no more. On December 14th at the age of 38, Monique was called home. She touched everyone's life in a special way and will always be remembered for her kind heart, her strength, her confidence, her sense of humour and her sniffles. Monique is survived by her mother, Cynthia (Scott) Johnson of Point de Bute, NB; her aunt, Kim Moore of Sackville, NB as well as by her uncle, Mark (Denise Baker) Moore of Pasedena, NL. She often referred to us as her sisters and brother. She also leaves behind a cousin, Nathan Moore; her soul-mate, Derek Mackie of Quispamsis, NB and a very special “mother-in-law” Marie Mackie of Quispamsis, NB. She is also survived by her father, Jim (Loretta) Ferguson of Hampton, NB; her two step-brothers, Jamie (Jess) of Hampton and Jonathan of Saint John; her nephew, Parker of Hampton; her nieces, Charlotte and Hannah of Hampton as well as by several aunts, uncles and cousins. She was predeceased by her adoptive parents, Therese Anna Marie Moore (the old lady) and Bruce Fallis Moore (the old man). The family would like to thank Dr. Bishop as well as all the other doctors, nurses and sitters from the ICU and 4C for their extraordinary kindness and professionalism and anyone else who assisted her throughout her illness. A special thank you to Dolan Road Irving and Melissa Stevens Michaels. “. . . while I breathe I hope . . “ Please sign your donor card – Monique did!
