Obituary of John Edward James Smith

It is with sadness that the family of John Smith, announce his passing at the Sackville Memorial Hospital, on Thursday, March 20, 2014. John was 78 years of age. Born in Sudbury, Ontario on January 25, 1936, John was the son of the late Constance Grace (Easton) and George Baden Smith. John was a volunteer fireman in Hornepayne, Ontario, as well as a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #194. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him. John will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 56 years, Margaret Ann (Tipton) Smith; his children, Jacqueline (Robert) Fahey, John (Kim) Smith and Tammy Fahey (Ivan Boudreau); one brother, Harold Frederick Smith; ten grandchildren, Neil, Michael, Kirstin, Gordon, Liandra, Joshua, Chance, Michael, Cody and Paxten; twelve great-grandchildren; one Aunt, Wanda Whent and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides his parents, John was pre-deceased by his son, Michael Gordon Smith and by his brother, Ross Gordon Smith. Arrangements have been entrusted to Campbell’s Funeral Home, 89 Bridge Street, Sackville, N.B. (364-8188). In keeping with John’s wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no visiting hours or funeral service. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of John may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, Alzheimer’s Society or to the charity of one’s choice.
