Obituary of Joyce Stokes

Woodpoint, N.B.- It is with deep sadness, that the family of Joyce Barbara Stokes announce her peaceful passing, in her sleep, on Thursday, July 31, 2014 at the Sackville Memorial Hospital. Joyce was 74 years of age. Born on August 15, 1939 in Sackville, N.B., she was the daughter of the late Earl and Janie (Sharpe) Wood. Joyce loved her dog Dixie who pre-deceased her and her cat, Charlie Angel. Joyce will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 56 years, Russel Stokes; her daughters, Janie Stokes (Norm) and Cindy (Gerry) Baronette; her sons, Russel Stokes, John (Sharon) Stokes and Donald Stokes; her sisters, Helen (Paul) Holtzer, Sandra (Klaus) Vogel, Carol (Arnold) Hicks and Deborah (Royden) Sandwich; her brothers, Rubert (Glenna) Wood, Harry (Sharon) Wood, Robert (Eva) Wood, Rickey Wood and John (Lois) Wood; her 10 grandchildren; her 10 great-grandchildren and by many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was pre-deceased by her sisters, Betty Green, Delores Robinson and Kathleen Atkinson and by her brothers, Donald and Richard Wood. Arrangements have been entrusted to Campbell’s Funeral Home, 89 Bridge Street, Sackville, N.B. (364-8188). Visiting hours will take place at the funeral home on Saturday, August 2, 2014 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. The funeral service will take place at the funeral home on Sunday, August 3, 2014 at 2 pm with Pastor Danny Jack officiating. Burial will take place in the Westcock Cemetery, Westcock, N.B. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Joyce may be made to the Woodpoint Baptist Church or to the charity of one’s choice. The family wishes to extend their heartfelt appreciation for the care given by Dr. Catherine Johnson, Dr. Veronique Robichaud and the nurses and staff at the Sackville Memorial Hospital during Joyce’s time there.
