Obituary of Olive May Voaden
Olive May Voaden died unexpectedly, but peacefully, on October 7, 2014 at the age of 81, surrounded by love. She was born in the English county of Devon on January 9, 1933.
Since 2001, Olive split her time between the United Kingdom and Sackville, New Brunswick, eventually becoming a permanent resident of Sackville. She was predeceased by her beloved husband Reg. Olive was a wonderful mother to Trevor (Linda), Jane (Stephen), Paul, and Rob, revered grandmother to Carly, Dean, Lisa, Andy, Amy, Robert, Megan and Flossy, and much loved step grandmother and great grandmother. She is survived by her sister Norah (Terry), and her brothers Roy (Jean), Neville (Anne), and Brian (Sandra).
Olive’s passions included gardening, bird watching, music, reading, and spending time with her family and close friends. She had a knack for making everyone feel special. Olive loved her family unconditionally and had a keen sense of humour and a gentle, soft-spoken, and sweet demeanor. She was honest and forthright in her opinions and a calming presence in times of stress. She also made amazing English trifles, Victoria sponges, and sausage rolls!
Arrangements have been entrusted to Campbell’s Funeral Home, 89 Bridge Street, Sackville, N.B. (364-8188). As per Olive’s wishes, in lieu of a service, her daughter Jane and son-in-law Stephen (Claxton-Oldfield) will be hosting a celebration of her life on Friday, October 10 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at their home. A celebration of her life will be held in Devon at a future date.
Donations in Olive’s memory can be made to the Tantramar Hospice Palliative care Organization (THPCO) in Sackville or a charity of one’s choice.
