Obituary of Margaret Gray Farquhar Henderson
It is with sadness that we announce the death of Margaret Gray Farquhar Henderson of Sackville, New Brunswick on November 13, 2014. Margaret was the beloved wife of the late John A.G. Henderson.
Born in Saint John in 1924, she was the daughter of the late Lloyd and Edna (Leonard) Farquhar and the sister of the late Marion (Jim) LeMesurier of Rothesay. She was also predeceased by her oldest son John R.F. (Raff).
Margaret grew up in Saint John, graduating from Netherwood School for Girls and later from Mount Allison University. Marg and John settled in Middle Sackville and raised their four children there.
Marg remained very active with Mount Allison as a member of the University Senate, Board of Governors, Board of Regents and Executive Committees. She was awarded the 1992 Board Medal for Distinguished Service. Marg was an active member of the Sackville United Church, IODE, Once in a While Club, Board Member of the NB Museum and a variety of other organizations. She volunteered and then became the Activities Director at the Drew Nursing Home.
Margaret will be lovingly remembered by her son Colin (Beverly), daughters Jill Bugden and Sara Henderson and daughter in law Cyndy Henderson (Carroll MacDougall). “Maggie”, and her much loved Murray Corner cottage, will always be remembered by her grandchildren Laura (Ale Ferniza) and Christina (Brian Francis), Nick and Drew Bugden, Jennifer Henderson and Elizabeth (Chris) Beaugrand and great-grandson Lennox Francis as well as by many extended family and friends.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Campbell’s Funeral Home, 89 Bridge Street, Sackville, N.B. (364-8188). Visitation will take place at the funeral home on Tuesday, November 18 at 1PM prior to the 2 PM memorial service. Following the service, a reception will be held at the funeral home for family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, remembrances to the Westford Nursing Home or the Sackville Memorial Hospital would be appreciated.
Special thanks to the Westford Nursing Home in Port Elgin for their great care and compassion by every staff member and to Dr. Graeme Stewart for his support over the past few years.
