Obituary of Dorothy Maxine McLellan
Sackville, N.B.- Well known New Brunswick crafts person, Maxine McLellan, died at the Sackville Memorial Hospital, on Monday, November 5, 2007 following a struggle with cancer. Maxine was 79 years of age.
Born in St. Andrews, N.B. on May 18, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Ralph and Dorothy Hill of Renforth.
Maxine was a long-time fixture at various maritime craft shows and her sweaters and hand knits were sold around the world. She was very active in the Upper Sackville United Church and her pies were eagerly sought after at bake sales. Maxine was an active and long-time member of the Order of the Eastern Star, acting as Worthy Matron of Fort Monckton Chapter #11 on more than one occasion and upheld the office of Adah until her illness forced her to slow down. She also delivered Meals On Wheels for many years in the Sackville area.
Maxine will be sadly missed by her husband William Donald McLellan; three sons, William Bruce, David Ralph and James Gordon; daughter-in-law, Donna and two grandchildren, William and Owen.
Arrangements are entrusted to Campbell’s Funeral Home, 89 Bridge Street, Sackville, N.B. (364-8188). Cremation has taken place and the family will receive visitors on Friday, November 9, 2007 from 6-8 PM at Campbell’s Funeral Home in Sackville, N.B. Eastern Star service will be held at 6:00 PM on Friday evening. The funeral service will take place on Saturday, November 10, 2007 at 2 PM from the Upper Sackville United Church, with Rev. Lloyd Bruce officiating.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Maxine may be made to the Order of the Eastern Star, Shriner’s Hospital or to the charity of ones choice.
