Obituary of A. Frank Fraser

Sackville, N.B. - The passing of Frank Fraser was peaceful, on Friday evening, December 21. He had fought a courageous battle with Alzheimer’s. He had spent a lifetime dedicated to his loving family, never too busy to find time for all. Born in New Glasgow, son of Martin Luther and Minnie (Haddon) Fraser, he spent his life working for the Royal Bank of Canada in many locations in Nova Scotia, New Brunswick and Quebec. Moving from one management position to next brought him closer to his roots, as Manager in Sackville, N.B. from 1967 until retirement in 1980. Frank served as Staff Sergeant during the second World War. He took special pleasure in working with Drew in his twenty years of retirement. He and Helen resided in Florida during the winter months. They enjoyed making friends and spending many hours on the golf course. An avid fisherman, he enjoyed friendships with all lucky enough to join his fishing groups. He loved his annual salmon fishing trips to the Miramichi as well as trout fishing in West River, N.S. and with the Bulmer’s Pond fishing club in Sackville. He enjoyed long-term friendships with numerous people from many walks of life. Frank and Helen built a summer cottage on Sinclair’s Island, outside of New Glasgow, N.S. and enjoyed renewing friendships every summer as well as all the family time it provided. Frank was a community man as well, serving as chairman of the school and hospital boards. He was prominent in the Rotary Club and was the recipient of the Paul Harris Fellow and acted as District Governor for New Brunswick and Maine. Frank received the Queen Elizabeth II Jubilee Medal for his community service. He loved life, always finding ways to help friends as well as enjoying the results of his many “friendly pranks”. Known as “Royal Bank Frank”, he was well loved for his generosity and sense of humor. Frank is survived by his beloved wife of sixty-three years, Helen, and will be sadly missed as well by his daughters, Jaine (Brian) Parry of Raleigh, North Carolina, Catherine (Maurice) Roy of Shediac, N.B., Cynthia Henderson of Antigonish, N.S. and Miriam (Paul) Bennett of New Glasgow, N.S. and by his son, Drew Fraser (Marlene Snowman) of Sackville, N.B.; nine grandchildren, Christopher, Jennifer, Allison, Robert, Elizabeth, James, Thomasin, Meghan and Alyssa. He has recently enjoyed the company of his oldest nephew, Colin (Marianne) Fraser and their family upon their return to Canada from living Holland. He was predeceased by his brothers, J. Haddon and Colin M. as well as his son-in-law Raff Henderson. Arrangements are entrusted to Campbell’s Funeral Home, 89 Bridge Street, Sackville, N.B. (364-8188).
