Obituary of Alden J. Ross
Sackville, N.B.- The death of Alden Joseph Ross, age 65, occurred on Sunday, April 6, 2008 at the Sackville Memorial Hospital.
Born on September 7, 1942 in Sackville, N.B., he was the son of the late Gordon and Helen (Mills) Ross.
Alden, or “Goat” as he was known by most, loved to drive his four-wheeler, go hunting and fishing and spend time at the camp. Perhaps most of all, he enjoyed partying with his buddies. In earlier years Alden was an avid and skilled skater and enjoyed playing hockey. He was employed at Enterprise Foundry on the gas and electric track, at the Mount Allison University Library doing various jobs and, as well, at Armco Canada Ltd. Alden also worked for the Town of Sackville Water Department and Wheaton’s All-In-One. He was a loving son, brother, uncle and friend.
Alden will be sadly missed by his three sisters, Irene Ibbitson of Westcock, N.B., Jean Darragh of Oxford, N.S. and Sue Ross-Maillet and Kevin Maillet of Sussex, N.B.; his brother Edwin Ross of Sackville, N.B.; nieces and nephew, Lani (Craig) Calhoun of Woodstock ,N.B., Jason (Melissa) Lorette of Moncton, N.B, Maegan (Scott) Cooper of Halifax, N.S. and Natalie Ibbitson of Moncton, N.B. and great-niece Leah Calhoun of Woodstock, N.B.
He was predeceased by his father Gordon Ross in 1989; his mother Helen (Mills) Heal in 2007; his step-father Bill Heal in 2004; nephew Daniel Ibbitson in 2007 and his brother-in-law, Kelsey Darragh in 1998.
Arrangements are entrusted to Campbell’s Funeral Home, 89 Bridge Street, Sackville, N.B. (506) 364-8188. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 8, 2008 from 4-8 PM at Campbell’s Funeral Home. The funeral service will take place at the funeral home on Wednesday, April 9, 2008 at 1 PM, with Pastor Tim MacDonald officiating. Interment will take place in the spring in the Sackville Cemetery.
Donations in memory of Alden may be made to the Sackville Minor Hockey Association, Tantramar Veterans Memorial Civic Center or to the World Wildlife Federation.
