Obituary of Raymond Walker Atkinson
Aulac, N.B.- The death of Raymond Walker Atkinson, age 83, occurred at the Moncton Hospital on Wednesday, April 16, 2008.
Born in Jolicure, N.B., he was the son of the late Byron and Nellie (Townsend) Atkinson.
Raymond grew up on the family farm in Jolicure, N.B. He was a member of the Midgic Tug-of-War Team from 1947-1949 and was inducted into the Sackville Sports Wall of Fame on June 2, 1990. Raymond worked in the woods logging and was employed with the Department of Highways, with Dexter’s Construction, as well as with McDonald’s Paving. He enjoyed gardening, woodworking and anything mechanical.
Raymond will be sadly missed by his wife Beulah (Lawrence) Atkinson; two sons, Gordon (Kim) of Point de Bute, N.B. and Robert of Amherst, N.S. and four grandchildren, Erin, Katelyn, Kylie and Reilley.
He was predeceased by his siblings, Fred, Tupper, Harold, Lena (Oulton)and Annie.
Arrangements are entrusted to Campbell’s Funeral Home, 89 Bridge Street, Sackville, N.B. (364-8188). Visitation will take place on Friday, April 18, 2008 from 7-9 PM. The funeral service will be held from the Funeral Home on Saturday, April 19, 2008 at 2 P.M. with Rev. Jim Shaffner officiating. Burial will take place at a later date in the Point de Bute Cemetery.
Donations in memory of Raymond may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, Canadian Cancer Society or to the charity of ones choice.
