Obituary of Edna Olive Johnson
Port Elgin, N.B.- Edna (White) Johnson, age 85, passed away peacefully, following a period of declining health, on June 11, 2008 at the Westford Nursing Home.
Born on Noel Road, Hants County, N.S. on January 16, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Alfred and Linden (Barron) White.
Edna was a veteran of WWII and served with the Canadian Women’s Army Corps (CWAC) and during her time in England in 1945, met and married her husband Roderick Johnson. Edna was very proud to be one of the original organizers of the annual Seniors Supper in Port Elgin, N.B. She loved her garden and spending time with her grandchildren and will be remembered as a wonderful cook, loving mother, sister, gram and friend.
She will be sadly missed by her beloved husband, Roderick Johnson of Port Elgin, N.B.; three children, Gary (Cheryl) of Camlachie, Ontario, Donald (Colleen) of Memramcook, N.B. and Grace (Rod) Johnson of Midgic, N.B.; two sisters, Almira Gorman of Gormanville, N.S. and Hazel White of White Settlement, N.S.; one brother Stuart White of Noel Road, N.S.; five grandchildren, Ann (Al) Langols of Port Huron, Michigan, Terry Howe of Pensacola, Florida, Jody (Monique) Tower of Fredericton, N.B., Stacey (Regan) O’Dea of St. Johns, NFLD and Tammy (Paulette) Johnson of Shediac, N.B.; five great-grandchildren and many nieces , nephews and extended family members.
She was predeceased by three brothers and two sisters.
Edna’s family would like to send sincere and heartfelt thanks to the Westford Nursing Home for their loving care of Edna over the last two years. Your kindness will always be remembered.
Arrangements are entrusted to Campbell’s Funeral Home, 89 Bridge Street, Sackville, N.B. (364-8188). A memorial service will be held on Friday, June 13, 2008 at 1:00 PM, at the Trinity United Church, Port Elgin, N.B. with Rev. Susan Estabrooks officiating. Burial will take place at a later date in the Fernwood Cemetery. A reception will be held following the service at the Trinity United Church Hall.
Donations in memory of Edna, may be made to the Westford Nursing Home or to the charity of ones choice.
