Obituary of Elizabeth Rogers

Baie Verte, N.B.- It is with sadness that the family of Elizabeth Jane (Fillmore) Rogers, announce her passing on Monday, June 16, 2008 at the Westford Nursing Home in Port Elgin, N.B. She was 87 years of age. Born in Montreal, PQ on July 20, 1920, she was the daughter of the late Fred and Flossie (Mercer) Fillmore. Betty was in the Air Force and was overseas during WWII from 1942-1945, employed as an office worker. Betty lived in Toronto, Ontario most of her life, working there as a stenographer. She eventually moved to Baie Verte, N.B. and called it her home. She loved to garden and one of her great passions was taking many photographs of wonderful sunsets. She was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch #26, Sackville, N.B. Betty will be sadly missed by her six sisters, Martha (Don) Hyslop of Hampton, N.B., Joan (Ian) Murray of Baie Verte, N.B., Joy Vardy of Newfoundland, Flora (Douglas) Annand of Baie Verte, N.B., Lois Metro of Boston, Mass. and Hedy (Walter) Puii of Freeport, Maine; three brothers, Wilfred (Pete) Fillmore of Baie Verte, N.B., George Fillmore of Baie Verte, N.B. and Stanley (Lois) Fillmore of Baie Verte, N.B.; special niece Kim Fillmore of St. Andrews, N.B. and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brothers, Baxter and Freddy Fillmore. Arrangements are entrusted to Campbell’s Funeral Home, 89 Bridge Street, Sackville, N.B. (364-8188). Visitation will take place on Thursday, June 19, 2008 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at Campbell’s Funeral Home. A legion service will be held Thursday evening at 7:30 PM. The funeral service will be held on Friday, June 20, 2008 at 1:00 PM from St. Lukes Anglican Church, Baie Verte, with Rev. Kevin Stockall officiating. Burial will follow in the Baie Verte Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Betty may be made to the Salvation Army, Westford Nursing Home, Alzheimer Society or to the charity of ones choice.
