Obituary of Sidney Courtney Sprague
Timber River, N.B.- It is with sadness that the family of Sidney Sprague, announce his passing on Saturday, June 21, 2008 at the Sackville Memorial Hospital. He was 85 years of age.
Born in Port Elgin, N.B. on July 1, 1922, he was the son of the late Hansel and Athelia (Allen) Sprague.
Sidney was a member of the Oddfellows and of the Royal Canadian Legion in Port Elgin until its closure as well as in Cap-Pele. He loved watching a good wrestling match and enjoyed any activity outdoors, especially hunting and fishing.
Sidney will be sadly missed by his wife Freda (Murray) Sprague of Timber River, N.B.; children, Murray Sprague of Alberta, Sunday (Kenneth) Fury of Point de Bute, N.B., Harvey (Bonnie) Sprague of Alberta, Shelley Pauley of Alberta and Andrew Sprague of Port Elgin, N.B.; step-children, Charlene (Ken) Evans of Alberta and David (Martha) Goodwin of B.C.; eighteen grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his daughter Beverly Sprague; brothers, Ernest, Otis, Russell and Stephen; sisters, Inez, Mildred and Norma and by step-children, Gordon and Jeffrey Goodwin and Valerie Gaudet.
Arrangements are entrusted to Campbell’s Funeral Home, 89 Bridge Street, Sackville, N.B. (364-8188). Visitation will take place on Monday, June 23, 2008 from 7-9 PM at the funeral home. The funeral service will take place on Tuesday, June 24, 2008 at 2 PM, at the funeral home with Pastor William Drysdale DLM officiating. Burial will follow in the Fernwood Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Sidney may be made to the Westford Nursing Home or to the charity of ones choice.
