Obituary of Olsen Byrdhill Allen
Sackville, N.B.- Olsen B. Allen passed away peacefully at the Sackville Memorial Hospital, surrounded by his family, on Sunday, March 1, 2015. Olsen was 81 years of age.
Born in Cape Tormentine, N.B. on January 24, 1934, he was the son of the late Margaret Kay Fillmore (Olsen) and Douglas Steven Allen.
Olsen lived in Natick, Mass for 28 years, working at Polaroid as a machine operator, returning to New Brunswick for retirement years. He lived in Charlottetown, PEI for 12 years with Glenda Sangster, becoming a big part of her family. Olsen attended the Sackville United Church with Rod and Brenda. He loved to hang out at the garage with Rod and the boys and was always on the go, taking a drive to the Cape and visiting many friends along the way.
Olsen will be lovingly remembered by his son, Craig (Kim) Allen; his daughter, Tanya Arseneau; his step-son, Tyler Sangster and by his granddaughters, Ashley Arseneau and Katelynn Allen.
Besides his parents, he was pre-deceased by his wife, Joan (McCarthy) Allen.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Campbell’s Funeral Home, 89 Bridge Street, Sackville, N.B. (364-8188). In keeping with Olsen’s wishes, cremation has taken place. The family will receive visitors at the funeral home on Thursday, March 5, 2015 from 1-3 pm and 6-8 pm. Refreshments will be provided at this time, provided by the Sackville United Church Women. A graveside service will be held in the spring at the Fernwood Cemetery, Port Elgin, with a date to be announced.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Olsen may be made to the Fernwood Cemetery in Port Elgin or to the charity of one’s choice.
