Obituary of Doreen Nettie Connors

Port Elgin, N.B.- It is with sadness that the family of Doreen (Allen) Connors, age 79, of Port Elgin, N.B., announce her passing on Sunday, October 12, 2008 at the Westford Nursing Home. Born on April 8, 1929 in Port Elgin, N.B., she was the daughter of the late Gladstone and Hazel (Goodwin) Allen. Doreen went to Port Elgin High School and Regional Memorial School and went on to work in several places including the RCMP for ten years, Toronto General Hospital, CBC, the Attorney Generals Office in Ontario, Port Elgin Jr. High School and the Bank of Nova Scotia in Port Elgin. Doreen was a member of St. Clements Catholic Church in Port Elgin, N.B. since 1980 and a member of the Women’s Group. Doreen will be sadly missed by her daughter Margaret (Willard) McCutcheon of Ottawa, Ontario and by her grandchildren Vanessa and Willie. She was predeceased by her husband John Gerald Connors. Arrangements are entrusted to Campbell’s Funeral Home, 89 Bridge Street, Sackville, N.B. (364-8188). Cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation. A funeral mass will be held on Thursday, October 16, 2008 at 4 PM from St. Clements Catholic Church, Port Elgin, N.B. with Father Allison Carroll officiating. Burial will follow in the Fernwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Doreen may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, Diabetic Association, Canadian Cancer Society Research Fund or to the charity of one’s choice.
