Obituary of Theodore Burbine

Mt. Whatley, N.B.- It is with sadness that the family of Ted Burbine, age 84, announce his passing at the Sackville Memorial Hospital, on April 4, 2009. Born in River Hebert, N.S., Ted was the son of the late Peter and Theresa (Comeau) Burbine. After a successful career with CBC Toronto, Ted retired to Aulac, N.B. to open and operate a Bed and Breakfast, “The Georgian House”. As a dedicated community member, Ted participated enthusiastically in many aspects of life in and around the Aulac/Sackville region. He was an active parishioner of St. Vincent’s Roman Catholic Church where he was a member of the choir and eucharistic minister and also a member of the Knights of Columbus. He was a member of the Sackville Curling Club, the NB Liberal Association, Rotary Club of Port Elgin and the Sackville Legion Branch #26. For several years, Ted was a member of a troupe of dancers who performed in Halifax at the International Tattoo. He was a staunch supporter of the local arts community. The Rotary Club Association honored him with the Paul Harris Fellow Award for his continued dedication to community support and renewal. Ted is survived by his brother, Robert (Pearl) of Dartmouth, N.S. and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers, Arnold and Joseph and sisters, Helen Burbine, Evelyn Jones, Marion Hedley and Maisie Quinn. Arrangements are entrusted to Campbell’s Funeral Home, 89 Bridge Street, Sackville, N.B. (364-8188). Cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation by request of the family. A memorial celebration will be held at St. Vincent’s Roman Catholic Church in Sackville, N.B. on Tuesday, April 14, 2009 at 11 AM with Father Allison Carroll officiating. Interment will take place at a later date in Minudie, N.S. Following the service, a reception will be held in the St. Vincents Catholic Church Hall. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Ted may be made to the charity of ones choice.
