Obituary of Sarah Elizabeth Miller

Moncton, N.B. - It is with sadness that the family of Sarah Elizabeth “Betty” Miller announce her passing at the Dr. Georges L. Dumont Hospital, Moncton, N.B. on Sunday, February 6, 2011. Sarah was 92 years of age. Born in Brooklyn, Yarmouth County, N.S. on June 3, 1918, she was the only child of the late James B. and Bertha (Holden) Allen. Sarah was a member of the Brooklyn United Baptist Church where she was a Sunday School teacher and church clerk for many years. She was a life member of the W.M.S. and was active in the Sons of Temperance, holding offices at all three levels of the organization. Sarah worked as a photo finisher for several years. Following her marriage she lived in Hubbards, N.S. for several years before moving back later to the Port Maitland area in Yarmouth County. Sarah became a member of the Bay View Baptist Church and was a member of the Opal Rebekah Lodge for many years. In later years she moved to Amherst where she became interested in bowling, which she enjoyed until ill health forced her to stop playing. Sarah later moved to Moncton to live and was fond of poetry, handwork, quilts, knitting and crocheting. Sarah will be sadly missed by her daughter, Mary Ellen Dunne of Yarmouth, N.S.; three sons, James Miller of Moncton, N.B. , Keith (Laurie) Miller of Sackville, N.B. and John (Jocelyne) Miller of Scoudouc, N.B.; three grandchildren, Christopher (C.J.), Sarah and Marie-Lynne. She was predeceased by her husband Malcolm Miller in 1991. Arrangements are entrusted to Campbell’s Funeral Home, 89 Bridge Street, Sackville, N.B. (364-8188). Cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 12, 2011 at 2 pm at the Bay View Baptist Church in Port Maitland, Yarmouth County, N.S. with Pastor Scott MacDonald officiating. Donations in memory of Sarah may be made to your local Dialysis Unit or to the charity of your choice.
