Obituary of John Anthony Blakely
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of John Anthony Blakely on August 8, 2026 at the age of 87. He left behind a legacy of kindness, dedication and quiet joy. He was a man who found meaning in faith, family and the passions that shaped his days.
John enjoyed the challenge of science and had a long career in forensics and biochemistry. As a single child he enjoyed the love of his 4 children and 8 grandchildren. A devoted follower of Formula 1 racing, he loved the thrill of race weekends and the precision of the sport. In contrast, he found peace in gardening, tending his plants with patience and care. His loyal dog Marlie, was his constant companion, faithfully by his side through every season. He served the Catholic Church with humility, offering his time and and talent to support his parish community. His steady presence and warm spirit touched many.
John is survived by his loving wife, Mary; his children, Damian Blakely, Ruth Yeoman (Blakely - married to James Yeoman), Dominic Blakely (married to Heather Touchie Blakely) and Claire Blakely; his grandchildren, Megan Lavoie Blakely, Kayla Lavoie Blakely, Kasandra Lavoie Blakely, Cimarron Yeoman, Michael Blakely, Caroline Morgan (Blakely), Madeleine Ferrara and Eleanor Ferrara. He will be remembered by them with love and gratitude.
