Luciana was born in Basiliano, Udine, Italy on March 24, 1946. Immigrated to Vancouver at age 12 and spent her teenage years in a loving foster home, learning Spanish and some English and developed a love for Latin culture. She trained to be a hairdresser in Vancouver, moved to Ontario, working as a hairdresser and purchased Russells Hairstyling in St. Catharines, all while raising her son Marco Bernardo. With a new partner, Luciana adopted Jason and Andreea from Romania in 1991, moved to Montreal in 1997 and then to Sackville in 2000 to purchase Marshlands Inn. She applied her creative skills to redecorate the entire Inn and has graciously hosted and served guests in the dining room for 25 years.
Luciana enjoyed travelling the world with friends and family. She loved music and dancing especially Italian and Latin. She was an awesome dance mom, supporting Jason and Andreea’s love of dance. Her flare for decorating turned Marshlands Inn into a magical place every Christmas and on other Holidays. She was a strong willed woman who set high standards and ensured they were adhered to. Luciana was kind, generous and always looked her best with makeup and hair styled to perfection. She had a lasting impression on everyone she interacted with.
Luciana is lovingly remembered by her husband Barry Dane; her son Marco (Melissa) Bernardo; her son, Jason Dane; her daughter, Andreea Dane (James); her granddaughter, Malina Guthrie; her sister, Iris (John) Short; her step-brother, Leo (Lucia) Persello; as well as by many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Erin Campbell and staff of Campbell’s Funeral Home, 89 Bridge St., Sackville, NB 506-364-8188. In keeping with Luciana’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A private service for her family will take place at the funeral home. A celebration of Luciana ‘s life will be held at the Marshlands Inn at a later date to be announced.
