To cousin Marco, Jason, Andrea, and Barry. Hard to believe your mother, wife, Zia Lucy is gone, too suddenly and early. I only saw her a few times but I remember that she was always smiling and nice to me. I think that’s the way she was with most people.
My sincere condolences at such a sorrowful time. Wish there were more words of comfort.
Jeffrey Wilson.

How do you find the words to say goodbye to someone whose place in your heart was so much greater than the title of sister-in-law could ever describe?
She was my (former) sister-in-law by name, but to me, she was so much more. I was a naive & shy 13 year old when I met her, & she became the older sister I never had — someone who welcomed me with affection, showering me with kindness, & making me feel loved & accepted simply for being myself.
Her sudden passing has left a space in my life, & of course in the lives & hearts of her dearly loved family. It is difficult to imagine a world without her unique laughter, her warmth, her unstoppable energy, & that wonderful way she had of making life feel a little more vibrant. Lucy & I lived in different provinces & we didn’t see each other often, but we stayed in touch via phone calls, emails, & old fashioned greeting cards.
I learned so much from her without knowing it. She taught me, by the way she lived, to embrace life—to notice its beauty, to be curious, to enjoy the moment, & to celebrate the people & things that bring joy. Lucy did not have an easy early life, & even during the last very difficult 6 months, she never complained about the many painful health & life-changing trials & tribulations she faced. Regardless of life’s, at times, rocky road, she showed me that life is meant to be lived with heart & enthusiasm.
Lucy introduced me to Chinese/Asian food, to chicken risotto & other Northern Italian dishes, & many other delish cuisines. When I was searching for a recipe that would replicate my mom’s special Italian sponge cake with vanilla & chocolate custard layers, Lucy was the only one amongst my relatives who had the recipe directly from my mom.
And then there was her love of all things Spanish. She opened a door into a world of music, dancing, culture, passion, and expression. Through her, I discovered pleasures I might never have known otherwise. The music, the dancing, the spirit of Mexico & Spain—all of these will forever remind me of her. Not to mention her love of travelling, of visiting different countries & experiencing very different cultures. And this is before it became trendy to, for example, tour Asia.
When she visited me, she always brought specifically chosen, generous gifts. Just last week, I discovered the music box that she gave me approx 18 years ago. I had kept it prominently displayed on a small antique table in my dining room, promptly forgetting it. Until a few days before her death when I was mysteriously drawn to it, remembering when Lucy gave it to me, though forgetting what tune it played…..What a Wonderful World. So special! A few days later I learned that Lucy had the exact same music box in her dining room!
Lucy fiercely loved & was proud of her family, her real priorities. Barry, her amazing & dedicated loving partner in marriage, parenting & business; her adored 1st born son Marco whom she mostly raised while a single mom, & of course Andrea & Jason who were adopted with an abundance of overflowing love. They are all her legacy of living a life well-lived, & of fortitude & love, as is her teenage granddaughter Melina, Andrea’s daughter.
What a beautiful, treasured gift it is to have known someone who leaves behind not only a bounty of cherished memories, but pieces of herself that become part of who we are.will miss her deeply. I will miss her affection, her presence, her spirit, and all the little things that made her uniquely her. But I will also carry her with me—in the music I hear, in the dances I remember, in the joy I find in life, & in every moment when I choose to embrace the world with a little more openness & passion.
She came into my life as a sister-in-law, but she became my sister. And that is how I will always remember her. May she rest peacefully, knowing how deeply she was loved, & how many lives she touched simply by being herself.
My deepest condolences to Barry, Marco, Andrea & Jason, & Melina. My thoughts & prayers continue to go out to & for all of you. “The loss is immeasurable, but so is the love left behind”.
With love & hugs, Anna

"Lucy"...a lover of beautiful things.
Always a pleasure to see her on my visits to the Inn over the years. She made the place sparkle and added life to the wonderful old structure.
I enjoyed hearing her story and how from Northeastern Italy she found her way to the Inn on Bridge.
I remember that early morning flight to Newark. She and son Jason sat behind me on the plane. They were off to see daughter and sister stateside.
Take care "Inn" folk and we'll see you soon.
Peter

Mike and I send sincere condolences to Barry and family. We were saddened to learn of Lucy’s demise and wish to express our gratitude for the many special dinners our family enjoyed at the Marshlands under Lucy and Barry’s and eventually Jason’s attentive watch. You were quite a team. Upon inquiry, news was always proudly shared of Andrea as well. Our heart goes out to all of you. May her soul rest now in peace.
