Obituary of Dennis Wayne Amos

It is with great sadness that I must announce the peaceful passing of my beloved husband, Dennis Wayne Amos on Saturday, August 1, 2026 at the Drew Nursing Home at the age of 77.

Born on October 24, 1948 in Sackville, NB, Denny was the son of the late Murray and Phyllis (Bowser) Amos.

Denny was my Mr. Perfect because he would tell everyone who asked how he was doing, how Perfect he was and he was also my Hero because he would tell everyone that he rescued me from Midgic and brought me to the city. Denny is survived by his loving wife of over 51 years, Janice (Wheaton). When we first started dating, my old friend Sylvia (who worked at the Kennel Club where as teens we would hang out), she would let me know when she saw my love coming by. “Sylvia, could you let our loved ones and dear friends know that Denny is coming?”

Denny was very proud of his kids, he often said I don’t know how we did it, but we have two great kids; his son, Dennis (Sonya) and granddaughter, Mabel of Toronto, his daughter, Susan (Mark) and grandchildren,  Arielle (Zach), Tyler, Dylan and Autumn all of Sackville.

He is also survived by his sisters, Margaret Melanson of Danvers, Mass, USA and Ruthie Hicks of Moncton; his brother, Leslie of Sackville; his favorite witches, who happened to be his sisters-in-law, Lois (John), Starr (Barry), Janet (Geoff), Wanda (Dan) and Carole, Mary Amos of Amherst, Norma Amos of Calgary, as well as by many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Besides his parents, he was pre-deceased by his brothers, Charles (enfant), David, Randall and Reg; his nieces, Susan Melanson, Carrie Amos and Sheila Levesque, as well as by his brothers-in-law, Bill Johnstone, Walter Melanson and Louie Hicks.

I wish to extend a sincere thank-you to the all of the Staff at the Drew. He enjoyed the teasing from all of you which was telling by his laughter, waves, smiles and winks and even the kisses he blew. I even heard him tell a few of you that he loved you. You all made life happier and easier for both of us.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Erin Campbell and staff of Campbell’s Funeral Home, 89 Bridge Street, Sackville, N.B. (364-8188). In keeping with Denny’s wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation or funeral service.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Denny may be made to the Midgic Baptist Church, Sackville Memorial Hospital Foundation, IWK Children’s Hospital or to the charity of one’s choice.
