Obituary of Deanna Lynn (Hicks) Cadman
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Deanna Lynn (Hicks) Cadman, age 68, at the Sackville Memorial Hospital on July 27, 2026. Deanna passed away peacefully with her family by her side, following a courageous and inspiring battle with breast cancer
Born in Sackville, NB, she was a daughter of the late Sybil Irene (Phinney) and Norman Alvin Hicks.
Deanna was full of love with a heart of gold. Her greatest legacy is the love she left with her precious family and friends. Deanna’s family were the center of her world, and she was the heartbeat of her family.
As a mother, Deanna loved deeply and fiercely, a mom who could make anything happen, make you laugh so hard and who was always the softest shoulder to cry on. Finding two great loves in her life, Deanna was a thoughtful and adoring wife making the best suppers and dancing through the ups and downs of life together. As Nan, Nanny, Nana and Nanny “with the pink hair” to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren she was simply the best, she was so proud of every one of them and made sure they felt her love for them with every phone call, message and hug and kiss.
Known as DD to her brother and sisters and many nieces and nephews, she made sure she maintained a bond with them that will never be broken, family was everything. Deanna had many friendships that spanned her life, she made everyone feel special and any friend of Deanna will carry her with them for the rest of their lives.
Deanna spent over 30 years working for the Town of Sackville. Her career was one of passion and commitment. She built the Special Populations program, using her knack to befriend anyone and ability to connect with the most isolated. Deanne created an inclusive and loving environment where everyone felt like they belonged. She worked for many years as a program coordinator; in this role she made sure seniors, kids, and families found ways to embrace and love our small town. She was the best ambassador for Sackville, and she loved her work immensely. She earned the honor of Citizen of the Year in 2023 after a lifetime of selfless commitment to making our community a better place and leaving smiles on the faces of all who met her.
Always the life of the party, Deanna enjoyed travelling and went on many happy trips with Benny, family and friends in recent years to Cuba, Dominican Republic and cruising the Caribbean. She made friends wherever she went. The cottage at Green Bay was her happy place where she spent many days and nights with the girls laughing and simply enjoying life with whoever dropped in. Wherever Deanna went she met a friend. It was often a long trip to the grocery store as she stopped and talked to everyone she knew…which was everyone. She was also known for her presence on Budz Trading Zone on Facebook, she must have traded hundreds of bottles of mustard pickles for items she was looking for, always trying to help her family and friends. Her heart was just that big and she always gave more than she received. We are all better people for having known Deanna. Her zest for life, infectious laugh and smile will be forever missed.
Deanna is survived by her spouse, Benny Estabrooks of Midgic; her daughter, Denise Cadman (Daniel Cormier) of Point de Bute; her step-children, Shawn Estabrooks (Sheena) of Summerside, Kim Babineau (Adrien) of St. Pauls; her siblings, Arnold (Donna) Hicks, Marjorie Ormandy, Janice (Stephen) Allen and Karen (Jim) Wells; her thirteen grandchildren, Jason Johnson, Dustin Johnson, Zachary Johnson, Lilly-Anne Estabrooks, Maisie Demerchant, Adam Demerchant, Daniel Snowden, Jasmine Champion, Layla Champion, Krista Gillis, Jonathan Estabrooks, Amber Estabrooks, Haley Blanchard and Riley Cormier; her nine great-grandchildren, Aspen, Kaiden, Georgia, Jett, Aria, Nevaeh, Ellie, Olivia and Lennon, as well as by many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends..
Besides her parents, Deanna was predeceased by her first husband, Boyd Cadman, as well as by her maternal and fraternal grandparents.
Deanna’s family wishes to send a heartfelt thank you to the staff at the Moncton Oncology Clinic, Sackville palliative care Doctors and nurses, Dr. Salem, Dr. Doucette, Kindred Home Care and Extramural for all of their support and kindness.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Erin Campbell and staff of Campbell’s Funeral Home, 89 Bridge Street, Sackville N.B. (506) 364-8188. In keeping with Deanna’s wishes, cremation has taken place. There will be visitation at the funeral home on Saturday, August 1, 2026 from 5-8 pm and on Sunday, August 2, 2026 from 11 am to 1 pm, followed by a private family burial in the Midgic Cemetery. A reception will be held on Sunday at The Church By The Lake at 2 pm and everyone is welcome to attend to share memories and celebrate Deanna’s life.
Memorial donations in memory of Deanna may be made to the Breast Cancer Canada or to a charity of one’s choice.
