Obituary of Joseph Edward McSheffery
It is with great sadness that the family of the late Joseph “Joe” Edward McSheffery announces his passing on Friday, July 24, 2026 at the Sackville Memorial Hospital at the age of 79.
Born on September 16, 1946 in Cornwall, Ontario, he was a son of the late Josephine Teresa (Shepherd) and Edward Joseph McSheffery.
Joe joined the Royal Canadian Air Force in 1965 and enjoyed a career of nearly 25 years. He later became a civil servant with the Federal Government at Air Command Headquarters in Winnipeg for a further 14 years. Joe was a proud Canadian military veteran. He liked building and flying model airplanes, woodworking and was an avid reader. He enjoyed long walks and numerous road trips. Joe was always known for saying “don’t sweat the small stuff,…it’s all small stuff”.
Joe is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Elaine; his son, Jason (Sue) of Melbourne, Australia; his daughter, Rhonda (affectionately known to him as “Mag”) of Winnipeg; his sister, Sonja Towers (John); his grandsons, Gus and Archie; his nephews, Brent and Shawn Harrison; numerous in-laws and friends and very special friends, Paul and Pam Vokey of Sackville.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Erin Campbell and staff of Campbell's Funeral Home, 89 Bridge Street, Sackville NB (506) 364-8188. In keeping with Joe’s wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no service.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Joe’s memory to your local food bank or a charity of one’s choice.
