Obituary of Ruth Nicola (Morrison) Anderson
Ruth Anderson (née Morrison) passed away peacefully at the age of 96 at Moncton City Hospital.
She was the daughter of the late Elizabeth (MacPherson) and Kenneth Morrison.
Ruth was the beloved wife of Andrew William (“Bill”) Anderson, sister of Sheila and Glen and loving mother to Ken (Pat), Jan (Don), Heather (Blane) and Kevin. She will be deeply missed by her grandchildren: Rachael (Holly), Emily (Brad), Andrew (Tania), Graham (Ali), Nicola (Alex), Eric (Joni), Scott (Jen), Dan and Beck (Rachel) as well as her great-grandchildren: Petra, Aiden, Antonia, Felix, Liz, Barrington, Jacob, Jude and Ronan.
Ruth was born in Swift Current, Saskatchewan in 1929 and lived in several small Saskatchewan towns before completing her high school years in Moose Jaw. After completing her nursing training she met Bill, and soon learned to ride on the back of his motorcycle. Together, they enjoyed life in Moose Jaw, Port Hawkesbury and Oakville before moving to Sackville, New Brunswick, where they retired. Throughout her life, Ruth was community-minded and actively involved with the Hospital Auxiliary and the Sackville United Church.
Ruth had a great love for all things Scottish, especially a good single malt. She was a piano teacher, a talented gardener, an avid walker, and a dedicated bridge player and a reader. She also volunteered generously and brought warmth, kindness and a quiet sense of humour to everyone she met. Above all, Ruth cared deeply about social justice and lived with compassion and purpose.
Ruth was predeceased by her husband Bill, by her daughter Heather and by her sister-in-law Sonia. Ruth was the heart of our family, and her memory will live on in all who loved her.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Erin Campbell and staff of Campbell’s Funeral Home, 89 Bridge Street, Sackville, N.B. (364-8188). In keeping with Ruth's wishes, cremation has taken place.
