Obituary of Charlene (Mitton) Mountain

It is with deep sadness that the family announces the passing of Charlene Florence (Mitton) Mountain on the 11th day of June, 2026 at the age of 80.

Born in Sackville, NB, on March 6, 1946, she was the daughter of the late Eva Bernice (Hicks) and Lorne Albert Mitton.

Charlene lived in Cape Tormentine for twenty-four years and raised her family there. She worked as a janitor for eight years for Marine Atlantic and as a support worker for 33 years.

Charlene was a member of the church and choir in Cape Tormentine and also taught Sunday school. She enjoyed quilting and knitting mittens and socks. Charlene will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved her.

Charlene will be lovingly remembered by her five daughters, Wanda (Leo Melanson), Moncton, NB; Loriann Mountain, Edmonton, AB; Karlene (Earl Blackburn), AB; Karen (Brent Duncan), Sackville, NB; Twila (Brian Langer), Kanata, ON; her brother, Charles (Rita) Mitton, Moncton, NB; her sister Cathy (Howard Amos), Amherst, NS; her grandchildren, Trinda, Trevor, Logan, Hudson, Quinton and Hailey; her great-grandchildren, Madilyn Tambeau, Luca Tambeau, Rylan Tambeau, Bodie Tambeau, Adalynn O’Blenis, Jaxton Mountain, Lily Falconer, Shyodie Falconer, Octavia Duncan, Daegen Blackburn and Matieus Young; her brother-in-law, Austin Trenholm of Sackville, NB, as well as by several nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Besides her parents, she was pre-deceased by her husband, Wendell Mountain; her sister, Lois Trenholm; her grandson, Colton Duncan, as well as by her half-brother, George Mitchell.

The family sends a heartfelt thank you to the staff at Spencer Nursing Home in Moncton, NB for their care and kindness.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Erin Campbell and staff of Campbell’s Funeral Home, 89 Bridge Street, Sackville, N.B. (506) 364-8188. Visiting hours will take place at the funeral home on Tuesday, June 16, 2026 from 2:30-5:30 pm, followed by the burial which will take place in the Point de Bute Cemetery. All are invited to attend.
