Obituary of Richard Bonaventure Tarkowski
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Richard Bonaventure Tarkowski, age 83, of Sackville, NB on Thursday, May 7, 2026 at his home.
Born in Erie, Pennsylvania on January 7, 1943, he was the son of the late Angela (Lubiak) and Edward Tarkowski I.
Richard met his wife, Rebecca, while serving in the U.S. Navy. He moved to Canada with the love of his life in 1968 and in the early 70’s settled in New Brunswick where he was employed by Radio Canada International until his retirement in the late 90’s.
Richard loved being at home, listening to classical music, watching movies and reading. He also enjoyed astronomy and being on his bicycle going back and forth to work. Richard had a great love of Canada and was proud to become a Canadian citizen in 2005. Richard played the guitar and was involved with the Youth Choir at St. Vincents Church for many years. Following retirement, he and Rebecca enjoyed visiting as often as they could with their grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved him.
Richard will be lovingly remembered and deeply missed by his daughter, Linda Gosling of Whitby, ON; his son, Steven Tarkowski of Airdrie, AB; his grandchildren, Rachel Gosling, Brian Gosling, Halle Tarkowski, Kyra Tarkowski and Amy Tarkowski, as well as by numerous in-laws and extended family.
