Fondest memory of Uncle Freddy was how he and Dad would tell jokes during family gatherings around Christmas. Freddy had a great sense of humour and he would tell one joke right after the other (like a machine) each one funnier than the last. Those were good times. Sending my sympathies to all who loved him.

So many memories of Uncle Freddie. The famous Christmas village every year, cheering for the Leafs as he watched hockey with his father-in-law (affectionately known as Pepere to us) and his love for baseball. Always grinning as he got a reaction out of people with a timely comment. Rest in peace Uncle Freddie, from all of us in Halifax.

I guess Freddie would have been in his 20’s when I was growing up on ‘Hell’s Corner”. By the way, we always thought it got the name because of us happy, well behaved yet somewhat mischievous children. I found out later in life from my mother that the name “Hell’s Corner” was actually the result of our parent’s shenanigans. Now that’s something to ponder! Although I didn’t know Freddie, I knew of him because I (we) played with Kathy always and Danny on occasion since they were closer to my (our) age. That said, I want to extend my sincerest condolences to the Hopkins Clan. Hugs to Kathy and Dan.

My condolences to Dorette, Peggy, Todd, Beth, Danny, Kathy and the rest of the family. As a good friend of Pat since grade school, I spent a great lot of time as the Hopkins family home and had many opportunities to see Fred and Diorette when they came to visit his parents. Fred was always very friendly and had a joke/prank tucked up his sleeve. I am sad to see that he has passed but know that his family has many great memories that will remain with them all their lives.

Fred and I became friends while we were coaching a provincial girls basketball team at Sackville. Both of our girls played for the team and I have fond memories of Freds natural salesmanship while fund raising for our team. He was instrumental in keepiing us financially afloat so we could travel to many games in New Brunswick and Nova Scotia. I valued his commitment to our team and also valued his friendship.
