Obituary of Robert William Lucci

Retired Sgt. Robert William Lucci RCMP

It is with deep sadness that the family of Robert William Lucci announces his passing on Friday, February 13, 2026 at the Moncton Hospital at the age of 81.

Born on May 20, 1944, in Amherst, NS, he was the son of the late Margaret (Marks) and Harry Workman Lucci.

Following graduation from RMS, he set off to Depot in Regina then off to do police work at the Toronto Airport where he met the love of his life, Sandra, where they both worked. Then the team was formed and a life of promise and intrigue commenced. Robert was a proud member of the RCMP for twenty-five years until his retirement in 1989. Following his retirement from the RCMP, he was employed for ten years with Revenue Canada (CRA). Robert was the founding President of the Ottawa Gloucester Sports Club, a nonprofit that helped support children in amateur sports. In earlier years he was Chief Fire Picket at the Long Island RCMP summer camp. Robert always had a project, was an entrepreneur, ran a lobster business and was a devoted Montreal Canadiens fan, never missing a game. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. Life will be quieter now without our grand storyteller.

We made lifelong friends with our postings from Toronto, PEI, back to Toronto and then Ottawa, retiring on the big Rideau. You can take the boy from New Brunswick but not the Maritimer from the man. Back to Murray Corner and Sackville to pick up Bob’s school friends and gathered more good friends. Our life was very social, and Bob was always happy with friends and family around.

Robert will be lovingly remembered by his wife Sandra (Smith); his daughter, Margaret Seguin; his adored granddaughter, Abigail Seguin; his son Michael Lucci (Lynn Fontaine); his granddaughters, Danika and Jessica who he encouraged with love and support; his brother, Rod Lucci (Norma Turpin), as well as by his many cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family and many friends.

Besides his parents, he was pre-deceased by his mother-in law and father-in law, Gladys and Edward Smith.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Erin Campbell and staff of Campbell’s Funeral Home, 89 Bridge Street, Sackville N.B. (506) 364-8188. In keeping with Robert’s wishes, cremation has taken place. Visiting hours will take place at the funeral Home on Thursday, February 19th from 3-8pm. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Friday, February 20th at St. Vincent’s Roman Catholic Church in Sackville, NB with Father Damian officiating. Following the funeral, a reception for family and friends will take place at the Royal Canadian Legion in Sackville, NB.

If so desired, donations in memory of Robert may be made to the NB Heart and Stroke Foundation, the Canadian Cancer Research Society, or to the charity of one’s choice.
