Earl MacDonald

Obituary of Earl William MacDonald

It is with great sadness that the family of Earl William MacDonald announce his passing at Westford Nursing Home, Port Elgin, NB on Tuesday, December 16, 2025 surrounded by his family.  Earl was 98.

Born on July 4, 1927 in Sackville, NB, he was the son of the late Lillian (Wilson) and James Hector MacDonald.

Earl’s life was built on a foundation of hard work, a green thumb and a deep-rooted commitment to his children and grandchildren. Earl’s garden was his pride and joy.  He will be remembered for his beautiful harvests and his dedication to his family.

A skilled bricklayer by trade, Earl took great pride in passing his skills on to his son, Jimmy.  He was a firm believer in the value of hard work, a trait he successfully instilled in all six of his children. Earl’s passions were many.  He was a talented cook, an avid hunter in his youth and a lifelong fan of the Toronto Blue Jays and the Toronto Maple Leafs.  Earl was a member of the Midgic Baptist Church.

Earl will be lovingly remembered by his six children, James (Edna) MacDonald, Betty  Harper, Kathy (Reginald) Richard, Judy (Stephen) Estabrooks, Donna (Allan) Steeves and Angie (Kevin) Phinney; 12 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren as well as by several nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, Earl was pre-deceased by his beloved wife of 64 years, Beulah (Delesdernier), two sisters, Rose and Helen Elizabeth; one brother, Gordon; his granddaughter, Erin Bishop and his son in law, Robert Harper.

Thank you to the Sackville Hospital nursing staff and Dr. Wall for the care Dad received as a patient there.  Also, thank you  to the Westford Nursing Home for the exceptional care that Dad received while living in their care.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Erin Campbell and staff of Campbell’s Funeral Home, 89 Bridge Street, Sackville N.B. (506) 364-8188. In keeping with Earl’s wishes, cremation has taken place. There will be no funeral or public service and burial will take place in the spring.
