It is with great sadness that the family of Evanel Kathryn (Guest) McEwen announce her passing, peacefully, at Gables Lodge, Amherst, NS on Friday, November 21, 2025.

Evanel is cherished and survived by her children; William (Linda) McEwen of Cole Harbour, NS, Ronald (Beth) McEwen of St. Louis, MO and Kathryn McEwen of Dorchester, NB.  Evanel is also survived by her brother, Robert (Linda) Guest of Regina, SK and her cousin, Helen (Andreas) Boeckh of Tuebigen, Germany.  Evanel will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved her.

Besides her parents, Evanel is predeceased by her dear husband, Lloyd (2011).

After growing up in Yarmouth, Evanel graduated from Mount Allison University with a degree in Home Economics. She moved to Charlottetown where she worked at Cornwall Jr High and later moved to Sydney NS. With her husband, Lloyd, they volunteered with numerous organizations that supported their communities. Their love of travel took their family to Malaysia (1974-76), India and Europe. In Sydney, she owned and ran a Bed and Breakfast. Between the B&B and the cottage, Evanel welcomed many friends and family over the years. She was a great hostess and made people feel at home.

Special thanks is given to Diem Nguyen and Hieu Nguyen of Ottawa and Carol Dixon of Point- Du- Chene, NB for their special friendship.

Arrangements are entrusted to Erin Campbell and staff of Campbell’s Funeral Home, 89 Bridge Street, Sackville, N.B. (364-8188). In keeping with Evanel’s wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be a private ceremony for family to take place at a future date.  She will be laid to rest at Hardwood Hill Cemetery in Sydney, NS beside her husband.
