Obituary of Eric George Wood

It is with deepest sorrow that the family of Eric George Wood announces his passing on Monday, November 3, 2025 at the age of 74.

Born on February 20, 1951 in Sackville, NB, he was the son of Phyllis (Copp) and Hugh Wood.

Eric grew up on a farm in Baie Verte and operated much of the farm equipment.  He drove heavy equipment for many years then slowed down and worked at Lafford Realty for John. Later in life, he enjoyed bowling, first in the couple’s league and then later in the men’s league. He coached basketball for 25 years and always enjoyed a good round of golf with his buddies. Eric was a “social butterfly” and was always up for a conversation whether he knew you or not and he always had lots of stories to tell.  Eric’s greatest joy was watching his grandchildren play their sports.

Eric will be lovingly remembered by his three children, Leigh, Tim (Tricia) and Meegan (Peter); his four grandchildren, Keenan, Asher, Reed and Presley; his brother, Terry (Susan) Wood; his sister, Roxanne (Blake Ward), his sister-in-law, Susan (Stephen) Trenholm; his brother-in-law, Calvin Trenholm, as well as by his cousins and many friends. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Eric was predeceased by his wife of 42 years, Wanda Wood.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Erin Campbell and the staff of Campbell’s Funeral Home, 89 Bridge Street, Sackville N.B. (506) 364-8188. Following Eric’s wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be a time of remembrance and visitation at the funeral home on Saturday, November 8, 2025 from 1-3 PM.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Eric’s memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or to the charity of one’s choice.
