We were deeply saddened to hear of Clair’s passing. Clair was the very first neighbour we met when our daughter moved into her home across the street from Clair & Pat. We developed a wonderful friendship.
Clair and my husband Dave shared many meaningful conversations over the past years about their faith, real estate, and life in general. His kindness and willingness to lend a hand made such a difference—whether it was helping our daughter with frozen pipes, setting mouse traps, or simply checking in. Clair had a generous spirit and a genuine care for others that touched our hearts.
We will always remember his warmth, humour, stories and the light he brought to those around him. Our thoughts and prayers are with Pat and the family during this difficult time.
With heartfelt sympathy,
Dave, Amanda, Alysha & Kayla Walker

We will always remember so fondly the loving and warm hospitality we received from Uncle Clair and Aunt Pat on our visits to Sackville. There are so many fond memories of trips to visit the family, both growing up at home in Sudbury, and then later the joy of being able to take my own family out east to meet the relatives. We were always made to feel so at home and welcomed. Much love to Aunt Pat, Colin, Philip and your families at this time of loss. Thankful for the hope of heaven and seeing our loved ones again.

I DON'T NEED TO IMAGINE
I don't need to imagine what it's like in heaven's fold
For I'm now in glory and I walk on streets of gold
I am surrounded by beauty in this wondrous place
But the best thing of all is to see my Savior's face
The saints of all the ages sing in the massive choir
As they lift their hands and voices, higher, ever higher
I am here with my family, generations gone before
They planted seeds of righteousness as a legacy of the Lord
Nothing hurts me anymore, all the pain is gone
The light shining from God's face makes it eternal dawn
I dance and sing in honor of the One who saved my soul
Now at home in heaven, I am finally made whole
I bow my knees before Him, I fall upon my face
For He is my Savior and He saved me by His grace
In this wonderful land called heaven, I walk the golden lane
My work on earth was ended, now I live again
Don't worry about me dear ones, for I am not dead
I didn't leave you on purpose, I've simply gone ahead
One day you won't imagine, what it's like in heaven's fold
You will join me in glory and we'll walk the streets of gold
Surrounded by such beauty in this wondrous place
We will stand once more together as we look on Jesus' face

Praying for you all.

I lived with Clair and Pat and also rented an apartment from them while I attended Mount Allison in the early 1990's. They were very good to live with and included me in their day to day life and activities. I often got a ride to class with Clair as he was still working at the university in those days. He was a soft spoken but funny man and I remember the way he would regularly tease Pat and try to get her to laugh at him. I have many good memories from my time with them and was grateful for the way they made me feel like part of the family and not just someone who rented a room. Fast forward a few years and Steve and I took our small twin daughters to meet them at their house on Salem Street and reconnected. Years went by, as they have a habit of doing, and we again connected when our daughters attended Mount Allison in 2014. We stopped in to see them and it was as if time stood still at that house on Salem. It was so nice to see them and tell them about our girls. They mentioned that their grandson was also attending school that same year, and I wondered if their paths would ever cross. As fate would have it Lauren and Jesse met at a school event, and the rest is history as they have been married for 7 years and have 2 beautiful children. I look back fondly on my days spent with Clair and Pat and the memories made in their home. Life is short but our memories are precious. I now watch Jesse tease Lauren and try to make her laugh, and I think of Clair. I see him be independent and do tasks by himself because he is capable, and I remember Clair. Clair has left a legacy of love and family that will always be there because it is passed on through his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. I look forward to someday telling Julia and Thomas about how I once lived with their great grandparents, how they made me feel like family, and then how we actually became family.

So sorry to learn this morning of Clair's passing, but know he is rejoicing in his new Home with Jesus. My prayers are with all of you family members. I first met Clair and Pat in 1965 when they took me in when I needed a place to live during my two years as a beginning Grade Six teacher at Central Avenue School. Over the years since then we often shared a visit that usually ended by having lunch or supper at their home. I will miss those chats in person and over the phone, and will always count Clair as one of my truest friends.
