Obituary of David William McNally

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of David William McNally at the Moncton Hospital on Thursday, August 28, 2025. David passed away peacefully at the age of 83, with his family by his side.

Born on May 26, 1942 in Sherbrooke, PEI, he was the son of the late John Philip Ignatius McNally and Goldie Pearl (Gunning).

David was a Police Officer for over twenty years with the Sackville Town Police, after which he was employed with security at Mount Allison University. Following his retirement, he worked at the Sackville Golf Club for twelve years bartending and taking care of the club house. David enjoyed bluegrass music, travelling the roads and a good feed of fried clams at Bel Air take out. He was a well liked and kind man and he will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

David will be lovingly remembered by his wife of thirty-five years, Paulette (Ward) McNally; his sons, Shawn McNally and Scott McNally; his grandchildren, Tristan, Teagan and Taurey; his great-grandchildren, Olivia, Sadie, Lochlyn and Isabelle; his brothers, Michael (Susan) McNally and Arnold “Arnie” (Carol) McNally; his sisters, Donna Card, Audrey (Bill) Chapman and Sally (Bill) Michaels; his sisters-in-law, Karen (Mike) Brown and Nancy Phinney; his brother-in-law, Chuck Ward, as well as by many special nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Besides his parents, he was pre-deceased by his brother, John “Jack” McNally; his mother-in-law, Doreen Ward, as well as by his nephew, Matthew Brown.

David’s family wishes to send an extra special thank you to Tantramar Extramural for all of their care and compassion shown to David over the last three years. David’s family sends heartfelt thanks to the acute care floor nurses at the Moncton Hospital, to Dr. Davey, Dr. Feeney, Dr. Cormier, Dr. Fekhar, Dr. Daigle and Dr. McNally, as well as to David’s respirologists’, Sara, Hannah and Emily. An extra special thank you to David’s family Doctor, Dr. Stewart for all of his amazing care, your kindness will always be remembered.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Erin Campbell and staff of Campbell’s Funeral Home, 89 Bridge Street, Sackville N.B. (506) 364-8188. In keeping with David’s wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no funeral services at this time.

If so desired, donations in memory of David may be made to the Sackville Memorial Hospital Foundation, the IWK Children’s Hospital or to the charity of one’s choice.
