Obituary of Harold Duane Johnson
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Harold Duane Johnson on Tuesday, June 3, 2025 at the Sackville Memorial Hospital at the age of 85.
Born in High River, Alberta on October 3, 1939, he was the son of the late Mildred Johnson (Herriman) and Clair Johnson. Harold was raised in Royalites, Alberta.
Harold served for eleven years in the Royal Navy on both coasts, which included two years as a submariner and three years in the Royal Canadian Engineers. Harold also was a long-haul trucker for almost forty years. He loved to fish, loved dancing and found cooking a lot of fun. Harold liked to tease and always had a smile on his face. He will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved him.
Harold will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 41 years, Eleanor (Patterson) Johnson; his brother, Bill Johnson (Gayle); his sisters-in-law, Sharon Stronge, Julia Zoellner and Carla Train; his special fur babies, Pebbles and Bam Bam, as well as by his nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Besides his parents, he was pre-deceased by his brother, Alan Johnson (Cathy); his sisters, Carolyn Ceh and Vivian Strandquist (Elmer), as well as by his step-daughter, Natalie Hoyt.
Harold’s family would like to thank the exceptional nurses of Extra-Mural for their wonderful care and kindness during his last days.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Erin Campbell and staff of Campbell’s Funeral Home, 89 Bridge Street, Sackville N.B. (506) 364-8188. Royal Canadian Legion Branch #26 will hold a Legion service will take place in the Four Corners Cemetery on Wednesday, June 11, 2025 at 11 am followed by a graveside service with Pastor Andrew Swanson officiating. Following the burial, a reception will take place in the Main Street Baptist Church vestry and all are welcome to attend.
