Obituary of Catherine Ruth (Lewis) Estabrooks
It is with deep sadness that the family of Catherine Ruth Estabrooks announces her passing on Sunday, May 18, 2025 at The Moncton Hospital. Catherine passed away at the age of 68, with her family by her side.
Born on July 7, 1956 in Sackville, NB, she was the daughter of the late Edgar Munroe Lewis and Lorena Lucy (Hicks).
Cathy was a tremendous lover of all animals, especially her three Shih Tzu’s, Jake, Nikki and Nugget. She was considered a second mother to many people and she had a great love and affection for children. In her early forties, Cathy went back to school to take Early Childhood Education so she could work in the school system, which made her family very proud. She enjoyed going to her brother’s basement for gatherings with music and singing. Cathy was a fierce mama bear who had an incredible capacity to care and love for so many people and things. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Cathy will be lovingly remembered by her husband of fifty years, Malcolm “Mack” Estabrooks; her children, Stacy (Cory) Johnson, Cory (Krista) Estabrooks and Chrissy Estabrooks (Steve Gosse); her grandchildren, Lyndsay, Colton, Claire, Riley, Alexis, Nathan and Silas; her great-grandson, Kingston; her brother, Aubrey Lewis (Charlotte); her sisters, Diana Milner (Hanford), Debbie Lewis (Robert), Donna Smith, Charlene Wells (Kevin), Loretta Weir (Don), Nancy Landry (Kevin) and Susan “Flora” Watson (Jim); her half-brother, Doug Lewis; her half-sister, Bernice Gautreau, as well as by her aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her sisters, Edna Phinney, Janice Smith and Olive Lewis; her two half-sisters, Connie Arseneau and Erma Mills, as well as by her brothers-in-law; sisters-in-law, aunts, uncles and extended family.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Erin Campbell and staff of Campbell’s Funeral Home, 89 Bridge Street, Sackville N.B. (506) 364-8188. Visiting hours to celebrate Cathy’s life will take place at Campbell’s Funeral Home on Saturday, May 24, 2025 from 2-4 pm all are invited to attend to spend some time and share memories.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Cathy may be made to NB Heart and Stroke Foundation, Canadian Cancer Society, The Alzheimer Society of New Brunswick or the charity of one’s choice.
