Obituary of A. Deanne Ward
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Deanne Ward at the Sackville Memorial Hospital on Monday, May 12, 2025. Deanne passed away peacefully, with family by her side at the age of 78.
Born on November 8, 1946 in Sackville, N.B., she was the daughter of the late Raymond Burton Ward and Frances Rebecca (Crossman).
She was one of the younger members of her large family. She travelled some in her younger years, taking a trip to Europe and Scotland, special trips with her mother, sister Honey and family, to Bermuda for some fun in the sun. She worked at a local Veterinary Clinic as a Veterinary Assistant and then the remainder of her career at Mount Allison University as an Administrative Assistant for Facilities Management. Deanne was an avid Blue Jays fan, often heard screaming at the television when things went well and when they didn’t. She was a lover of “all things frogs”, and some may have seen her drive around town in her red Honda Civic which housed an animated like “frog license plate” on the front! She was known by some of her nieces and nephews as the “Cool Aunt” because she did fun stuff with the kids! She was a loving sister, aunt, coworker and friend. Deanne loved the Lord and was a member of the Salem Baptist Church in Sackville.
Deanne will be lovingly remembered by her sisters, Honey MacFarland and Anne Marie Tower and her brother Michael (Melanie) Ward, her nieces and nephews - Greg, Penny, Heather, Diana, Carol, Curt, Mike, Shannon, Alan, Gary, Pat, Stephen, Chris, Terri, David, Shelley, Jonathan, Heidi, Jordan, Amanda, Adam, Jennifer, Leah, Braeden, Kayla, Darren and Tim, many of whom thought of her as a second mother.
Besides her parents, Deanne was predeceased by her brothers, Raymond “Sonny” (Violet) Ward, Glenn Ward, Bruce Ward; her sisters, June (Bill) Doherty, Gerry (Bliss) Wheaton and Judy (Raymond) Duncan; her sister Alice Rose and her brother William Alexander in infancy; her brothers-in-law, Bob MacFarland and Elwyn Tower, as well as by her nephew Bobby MacFarland (at a young age).
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Erin Campbell and staff of Campbell’s Funeral Home, 89 Bridge Street, Sackville N.B. (506) 364-8188. A Celebration of Life will take place at the Salem Baptist Church, Sackville, N.B, on Wednesday, May 21, 2025 at 2 p.m. with reception to follow. A private family burial has taken place.
The family wishes to extend thanks to the doctors and nurses at the Sackville Memorial Hospital and to the many friends who supported her by their visits and thoughtful gestures in her final days.
Donations in memory of Deanne may be made to the Salem Baptist Church or to the charity of one’s choice. On-line condolences and sharing of memories may be forwarded to the family through our website www.campbellsfuneralhome.com or by visiting the funeral home Facebook page.
