Obituary of A. Bruce Ward
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Bruce Ward at the Sackville Memorial Hospital on Thursday, February 27, 2025. Bruce passed away peacefully with his family by his side in his 80th year.
Born on June 25, 1945 in Sackville, NB, he was the son of the late Raymond Burton Ward and Frances Rebecca (Crossman).
Bruce loved his family and he was a devoted, loving, gentle and patient husband, father and grandfather. He was very proud of all of his nine children. Bruce was the number one fan of the Mounties football team and was passionate about their game. He loved all sports, particularly golf and baseball and enjoyed taking walks in the Waterfowl Park. Bruce loved the Lord and was a member of the Salem Baptist Church in Sackville. He was very funny, had a wicked sense of humor and always liked to see people smiling. Bruce will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Bruce will be lovingly remembered by his wife of fifty years, Kathy (Hubert) Ward; his children, Jonathan (Melissa) Ward, Heidi (Jeremy) Mullin, Jordan Ward, Amanda (Phil) Connolly, Adam (Andrea) Ward, Jennifer Ward, Leah (Chris) Fortune, Braedan Ward, Kayla Ward; his sisters, Honey MacFarland, Anne Marie Tower and Deanne Ward; his brother, Michael (Melanie) Ward; his grandchildren, Andrew, Jaydon, Abbey, Maddy, Nate, Luke, Matthew, Julie, Jenna, Davey, Jacob, Avery, Bennett, Aubrey, Alani, Aria, Anna, Tristan, Eli and Cedar; his sister-in-law, Pauline Ward and his brother-in-law, Tony Hubert, as well as by many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Besides his parents, Bruce was pre-deceased by his brothers, Raymond “Sonny” (Violet) Ward and Glenn Ward; his sisters, June (Bill) Doherty, Gerry (Bliss) Wheaton, and Judy (Raymond) Duncan; his sister Alice Rose and his brother William Alexander in infancy, as well as by his brothers-in-law, Bob MacFarland and Elwyn Tower.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Erin Campbell and staff of Campbell’s Funeral Home, 89 Bridge Street, Sackville N.B. (506) 364-8188. Visiting Hours will take place at the funeral home on Sunday, March 2, 2025 from 2-4 pm. The funeral service will take place at the Salem Baptist Church, Sackville, on Monday, March 3, 2025 at 2 pm with Pastor Paul Bedford officiating. A reception will take place at the church, following the service. The burial will take place in the spring in the Sackville Cemetery.
A celebration of Bruce’s life will take place in the summer with details to be announced.
