Dear Molly and Meredith:
We are greatly saddened to hear about the passing of your mother and our dear friend. St. Pat's will not be the same without her. The locals there will now at least have a chance to taste the llocal corn crop! We will forever remember Val's great appetite for corn on the cob washed down with some bubbly Prosecco all the while her gorgeous blue eyes twinkling!
We'll miss our annual visits together. Derek in particular will miss their regular lunches at Au Gamin and their discussions on the state of the stock market.
We are all glad that Val was a part (however long or short) of our lives. She was a lovely person!
Sincerely Derek, Bjorn, Linda

The end of an era on University Place. I have very pleasant memories of being in and out of your house as a teenager, babysitting the three of you. Your Mom was a good neighbour and friend. I remember Geoff, Parker and Andy Seaman, together with Harold and perhaps Doug, pushing and carrying her Morris Minor up the snow-covered street.
You will miss them both, but your heads must be full of memories and fun times you shared.
Thinking of you all.

Joan and I were saddened to hear about Aunt Valda's passing. She was such a great lady.
It might have been a coincidence, but my brother Donald and I were talking about your mom at lunch last week. I was saying that I was looking forward to talking to her in a few weeks. Aunt Valda had been phoning me at Christmas for the last few years.
Our thoughts are with you as you celebrate your mom's life.

Meredith, Molly, Malcolm and all your families - I just heard from Sheila that Val has died and I am sad to see yet another end of the Sackville I knew - now University Place has an empty spot at the top! How many nights did I spend babysitting you three in that lovely home of yours ! Val and Ned, whom I could never call by their first names until I was in my late 30's, were so very good to me, and wonderful parents to you three. Losing your parents is part of life but very hard as I found out - so many little things trigger memories, good and sometimes not!
My love to you all, say Goodbye to Val from me,
Wendy

Meridith, Molly and Malcolm- My condolences to you on the passing of "Val". What a great and memorable lady she was. I can still remember the days, over 50 years ago, when I was a youngster running the halls of St. Paul's church, and the friendship my parents and yours had. I can remember my sisters being friends with Meridith and Molly, and Malcolm and I being elementary school buddies. , and I can recall many times at the Fisher house when your Mom was the hostess of our visits. In fact the memories are clear in my mind. Years later, I saw Val and Ned at visits to my mom and Dad's, and , ironically, Molly's kids,Faith and Andrew, become school mates and friends with my son's William and Matthew, making our family relationship 3 generations long. That also meant I saw Val and Ned at various school functions as well. It is sad to see our parents pass away, but it is great that we can always remember them. I wish I could attend the funeral, but my day is spoken for. You are all in our hearts, God Bless, and love...John with Carolyn William Matthew and Sarah Trivett.

We are thinking of the extended Fisher family in Sackville on the loss of Val, mother, grandmother and Great Grannie -and also my aunt. She lived a full life including the war years where she played an important role as a woman. And I know she was well respected as a good teacher for many years in Sackville. Duncan and I were happy that we got together with Val and Meredith quite a few times In PEI these last few summers where we all enjoyed oysters together!
We send you our sincere sympathies.

My condolensces to the family during this difficult time.
Mrs Fisher was always kind and welcoming when I was around to do some small work projects or just stopping in for a visit. I often ended up sitting on the patio, at the kitchen table or on the sofa listening to a story and being asked how things were going. Val was a good listener, and story teller. She always had a warm smile and laugh that would go along with her story. She would laugh or seem surprised with the some of the stories I shared. She found them entertaining I guess. I'm not sure how that was possible with all the things she did and places she traveled. Common discussions were the news, the town, family and my adventures. Val would invite me to stay for lunch or dinner if I happened to be around during those times. As long as I wasn't in a hurry I always gladly accepted. The Fishers were great people to be around. I had a great deal of respect for them and their hard work, service to our country, and personable character.
For the past 7 years I have been living half way around the world so I never had much time to visit and say hello. When did go home I stopped by for visits but Val was never at home. Even at the age of 90 she always seemed to be on the go. This past summer I stopped by but unfortunately I missed her again by a day as she was already headed to Quebec. She loved the summer cottage up there. Val will be greatly missed but she will forever in my heart and stories. Rest peacefully with Ned.

I am heartbroken - I loved this dear woman - I loved preparing her favorite foods and taking her out in the car. I will miss her so much - her smile - her voice - her kindness and I know she loved me to because we told each other often. I also know is is unreasonable for me to expect her to live longer than 91 - she had a great interesting life - but I want her back. so sorry to Malcom, Molly and Meredith and families - she loved her children and grands and greats so much. I loved sharing news with her and comparing books, discussing current events in the paper - she was a wonderful friend. I have to stop crying now. love to all
