Obituary of Alice Mary Noel
Sackville, N.B.- Alice Mary Noel, age 89, passed away on Saturday, January 17, 2009 at the Drew Nursing Home, Sackville.
Born in Middle Sackville, N.B. on December 31, 1919, she was the daughter of the late Francois and Exelda (LeBlanc) Bourgeois.
Alice was a World War II veteran and her husband’s career in the Armed Forces took her away from Sackville. She and her husband Ron moved back to Sackville, N.B. in 1969, following his retirement from the Canadian Armed Forces. Alice was a member of the 1935 Sackville All Stars softball team and was inducted into the Sackville Sports Wall of Fame in 1997. In 2006, Alice moved into the Drew Nursing Home, where she resided until her death.
Alice will be sadly missed by her daughter Carol Noel of Kingston, Ontario; sisters, Edna and Irene (Ludger); brother Laurie; granddaughter, Kimberlie (Alex) Matteau of Dartmouth, N.S.; great-grandchildren, Andrew Thomson, Katie Thomson and Nicholas Matteau of Dartmouth, N.S.; nieces, Madeleine, Annette, Jacqueline (Evan), Laurina and Katherine (John) and by her nephew Robert (Margaret). Alice will also be sadly missed and fondly remembered by Peggy Hauschildt.
She was predeceased by her husband Ronald Noel in 2007.
Arrangements are entrusted to Campbell’s Funeral Home, 89 Bridge Street, Sackville, N.B. (364-8188). Cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation by request. A memorial service will be held at St. Vincent’s Roman Catholic Church, Sackville, N.B. Friday, January 23, 2009 at 1 PM with Father Michael Toner officiating. Burial will take place in the spring in the Holy Rosary Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Alice may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
