Obituary of Johanna Maria Estabrooks

Sackville, N.B.- It is with sadness that the family of Johanna Maria Estabrooks announce her passing on Tuesday, August 11, 2009 at the Drew Nursing Home, Sackville, N.B. Johanna was 88 years of age. Born in Holland on January 18, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Mathys C. and Huberta H. (Verheyen) Peters. Johanna was a wonderful seamstress and made this her occupation for most of her life. She had a great love of animals, flowers, gardening and cooking and enjoyed having friends over and entertaining. Johanna was a loving wife and mother and will be sadly missed. Johanna will be sadly missed by her daughters, Donna Nickerson of Sackville, N.B. and Joanne Estabrooks and her partner, Gary McCarthy of Sackville, N.B. and by her special cat, Pocahontas. Besides her parents, Johanna was predeceased by her husband Joseph Earl Estabrooks in 1974. Arrangements are entrusted to Campbell’s Funeral Home, 89 Bridge Street, Sackville, N.B. (364-8188). In keeping with Johanna’s wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation. A private family burial will take place at a later date, in the Westcock Cemetery with Father Allison Carroll officiating. The family wishes to invite close friends of Johanna, Donna, Joanne and Gary and her Drew family to 29 Churchill Avenue, Sackville, on Saturday, August 15, 2009 at 3 PM for a time of remembrance and celebration of Johanna’s life. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Johanna may be made to the Drew Nursing Home-Tantramar Foundation, Mount Allison University’s “Animal House” (SPCA sponsored) or to the charity of ones choice. Johanna’s family wishes to thank everyone at the Drew Nursing Home for all their care and support in the last two years.
