Obituary of Joseph Lawrence Thompson
Sackville, N.B.- It is with profound sadness that I announce the passing of my beloved husband and best friend, Joseph Lawrence Thompson, PhD (Theology), age 69 on Saturday, August 22, 2009.
Born in Lebanon, Ohio, on December 31, 1939, Joseph was the son of Gladys Bixler Thompson and the late Joseph Warren Thompson.
Joe resided in Greenville County, South Carolina but spent up to 6 months each year in Sackville N.B. He was a loving husband, son, father and friend. Joe was a devout Christian man and when the church doors were open he was there.
He is survived by his wife Faye Patterson of Sackville and Greenville, S.C.; his two beloved daughters, Alissa Thompson Palmer (Paul) of Corona, California and Christie Dixon (Todd) of Vandalia, Ohio; his mother Gladys Bixler Thompson of Lecanto, Florida; brothers Phil, Paul, Dave and Wes and sister, Jan Featheringill, all of Ohio; his grandchildren, whom he adored, Justin, Hannah, Logan, Seth, Levi and step-grandson Andrew. He is also survived by his two step-daughters, Alisa (Scott) King and Jennifer Castagna, all of Porters Lake N.S. as well as his mother and father-in-law, Coreen and William Patterson of Sackville.
He was predeceased by his father, Joseph Warren Thompson.
He is now in the arms of his beloved Saviour, Jesus Christ.
Arrangements are entrusted to Campbell’s Funeral Home, 89 Bridge Street, Sackville N.B. (364-8188). Cremation has taken place and in keeping with Joseph’s wishes, there will be no visitation and no funeral service. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Joseph may be made to the Midgic Baptist Church, Open Bible Baptist Church, Amherst, N.S. or to the charity of one’s choice.
