Obituary of Eleanor Frances Brooks

Upper Sackville, N.B.- The family of Eleanor Frances Brooks, 91, wishes to announce her passing on Saturday, July 3, 2010 at her home in Upper Sackville, N.B. She was born April 29, 1919 in Beech Hill, N.B. to Howard Ogden and Vida (Mitton) Ogden. Upon the death of her husband Maurice in 1965, she continued to operate the family farm with her sons, and retained an active interest in the farm her whole life. She was a long-time member of the Upper and Middle Sackville Women’s Institute and the Middle Sackville Baptist Church as well as a supporter of the local 4-H program. In addition to her parents and husband, she was pre-deceased by her sisters-in-law, Eleanor, Ruth, Jean and Kathleen Brooks; brothers-in-law, Norman, Ora, Lorne, Fred, Frank and John Brooks, Dudley Steeves and nephew Gregory Steeves. Eleanor is survived by her sister, Hilda Steeves Fullerton of Riverview, N.B.; daughter, Judith (John) Carlisle; sons, Richard (Shirley Ann), Harold (Sherry), Kevin (Karen) all of Upper Sackville, N.B.; foster son Leslie (Ruth) Kennie of Shepody, N.B.; grandchildren, Clayton (fiancee Shannon), Nadine and Jeffrey Brooks, Alysha and Kerri Sears; sisters-in-law Winifred Brooks and Joyce O’Neill of Sackville, N.B., Hilda Brooks of Springhill, N.S and several nieces and nephews. Arrangements are entrusted to Campbell’s Funeral Home, 89 Bridge Street, Sackville, N.B. (364-8188). The family will receive visitors at the funeral home on Monday, July 5, 2010 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. The funeral service will be held from the funeral home on Tuesday, July 6, 2010 at 2 PM with Rev. Vernon Vickruck officiating. Burial will take place at the Four Corners Burying Ground, Upper Sackville, N.B. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Eleanor may be made to the Middle Sackville Baptist Church Building Fund, Four Corners Burying Ground, Chignecto 4-H Club, Sackville Extramural Nurses or to the charity of ones choice. A heartfelt thank you to all who loved and cared for Eleanor in her years of failing health: health-care workers, care-givers, friends and family.
