Obituary of James Russell Lewis

It is with deep sadness that the family of James Russell Lewis, announces his passing on May 6, 2015 at the Moncton Hospital. James was born September 15, 1932 to William Daniel Lewis and Odessa Florence (Sabean). James was a veteran of the Canadian Armed Forces, serving with the 1st Regiment, Royal Canadian Horse Artillery. He was an avid fisherman and was always prepared with his fishing gear wherever he went. James enjoyed cooking and was a master craftsman of anything and everything. He was a self-taught musician and played any instrument he came across. James will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Patty (Nolan) Lewis; his 10 children, Theresa (Gary) Curtis, Wendy Lewis, Stephen (Norma) Lewis, Pam Lewis, Jamie Lewis, Ehrinn (Bob) Provitola, Kevin (Sherry) Reilly, Jennifer (Wayne) Ward, Amanda (Stephen) Winchester and Brendon (Heather) Lewis; his 20 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandson. Besides his parents, James was pre-deceased by his son, Christopher Lewis; his first wife, Peggy Poole; his ten brothers and sisters, Elmer, Elsworth, Hazel, Rachel, Laura, Josie, Evelyn, Theresa, Betty and Ramona and by his granddaughter, Lisa Monahan. Arrangements have been entrusted to Campbell’s Funeral Home, 89 Bridge Street, Sackville, N.B. (364-8188). In keeping with James’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A celebration of his life will take place on Sunday, May 10, 2015 at 1 pm at the Port Lorne wharf/beach in Nova Scotia. Burial will follow in the Port Lorne Cemetery. Donations in memory of James may be made to the James R. Lewis charity being established by his family, which will raise funds to donate towards senior care and education. These donations can be made at the funeral home or at the Royal Bank of Canada.
