Obituary of John Wallace Scoville

It is with deep sadness that we must announce the passing of John W. Scoville at the Sackville Memorial Hospital on Friday, January 12, 2018. John passed away surrounded by his family at the age of 74.

Born on May 26, 1943 in Yarmouth, N.S., he was the son of the late Lillian (Hubbard) and Kip Scoville.

John enjoyed playing cards with his friends and loved his gospel music, playing once a month at the Drew Nursing Home in Sackville, as well as at nursing homes in Amherst and Moncton. John’s gospel group, “Call Waiting”, was given the Mercy Award in 2006 and they were inducted into the Gospel Music Hall of Fame. Above all else, John was devoted to his wife and family, who were most important to him.

John will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 41 years, Vivian Marie (Doucette) Scoville; his step-daughters, Darlene Lorenz and Helen Mary Gavel; his grandsons, Anthony Gavel and Matthew Myers; his great-granddaughters, Madeline Gavel and Autumn Myers; his brother, Gerald (Rose) Scoville; his sisters, Joyce Grant, Vickie (John) Deveau, Leta Deveau, Louise Fox, Irene (Dave) Manthorne and Gloria, as well as by many nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, he was pre-deceased by his sister, Pauline Doucette; his brothers, Ken Scoville and Donald Scoville, as well as by a brother in infancy.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Campbell's Funeral Home, 89 Bridge Street, Sackville, N.B. (364-8188). In keeping with John’s wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no funeral service. There will be a celebration of his life on Monday, January 15, 2018 from 2-4 pm at the funeral home and all are encouraged to attend.
