In keeping with Alvin's wishes, there will not be any visiting hours or funeral service. A graveside service will be held in the spring in the Midgic Cemetery.

Obituary of Alvin Melbourne Phinney

It is with deep sadness that the family of Alvin Melbourne Phinney must announce his passing on Friday, February 3, 2017 at the Sackville Memorial Hospital. Alvin was 89 years of age. Born on November 10, 1927 in Midgic, N.B., Alvin was the son of the late Mildred (Hicks) and Richard Phinney. Alvin was a former member of the Lion’s Club and the Radio Club. He was hard worker who enjoyed doing his job and he liked keeping busy outside. Alvin will be lovingly remembered by his four children, Sheldon Phinney, Terry (Shelley) Phinney, Anna Jewers, Marion Grace Wood and her mother, Shirley; his brother, Richard Phinney “Junior”; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; his step-children, Pauline Graham, Bernice Weeks, Elaine Lirette, Marlene Christie, Janine Mitton and Blair Richard as well as by many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Alvin was pre-deceased by his wife, Dorine (Snow) Phinney; his brother, Alden Phinney; his sister, Mellicent Barnes and by his step-son, Aylre Richard. Arrangements have been entrusted to Campbell’s Funeral Home, 89 Bridge Street, Sackville, N.B. (506) 364-8188. In keeping with Alvin’s wishes, there will be no visiting hours or funeral service. A grave-side service will take place in the spring in the Midgic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Alvin may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
