Obituary of Gladys Mary Steeves

It is with deep sadness that we must announce the passing of Gladys Mary Steeves, at the Drew Nursing Home in Sackville on Thursday, December 8, 2016. Gladys passed away at the age of 83, surrounded by her loving family. Born on March 20, 1933 in Mount View, N.B., Gladys was the daughter of the late Hazel (Brown) and Garner Cook. Gladys was a member of the Middle Sackville Baptist Church and Past President of the Women’s Missionary Society. She was a life-member and dominion life-member of the Baptist Missionary Society, past Baby Band Leader and was past secretary-treasurer of the Mount View Church Hall. Gladys was a Sunday School teacher and was involved for many years with the social committee of the church and was also a member of the Ladies Aid. Gladys will be lovingly remembered by her four daughters, Beverly (Jeff) Snowdon of Abbotsford, BC, Bonnie (Barry) Stiles, Patricia Steeves (Kevin Wilson) and Charlene Steeves, all of Sackville; her two sisters, Louise Miller of Sackville and Jean (Lloyd) Jones of Upper Sackville; her four brothers, Fred (Albine) Cook of Sackville, Curtis (Shirley) Cook of Ontario, Lawrence Cook of Ontario and Wade (Jeanne) Cook of Ontario; her five grandchildren, Laurie, Natalie, Ryan, Lyndsay and Alana; her seven great-grandchildren, Zoe, Sophie, Lucas, Chase, Vienna, Dylan and Liam; her sister-in-law, Doris Cook of Ontario, as well as by many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Purdy Steeves in 1976; her brother, Kenneth Cook and by her sister-in-law, Marcelline Cook. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Campbell’s Funeral Home, 89 Bridge Street, Sackville N.B. (506) 364-8188. Visiting hours will take place at the funeral home on Sunday, December 11, 2016 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. The funeral service will take place on Monday, December 12, 2016 at 2 pm at the Middle Sackville Baptist Church with Rev. David Evans and Rev. Myles Krueger officiating. The burial will take place in the spring at the Sackville Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Gladys may be made to the Middle Sackville Baptist Church or to the charity of one’s choice.
